The developer, architect, and interior designer worked together from day one to ensure that the architectural design goals were coordinated with the furniture, rugs, and window treatments to enhance the selected materials and finishes of every room. The attention to scale, color, and texture is apparent throughout the Little Hawkins Island campus.
The furniture plan has over 100 appropriately scaled custom pieces. The marriage of wood, fabric, leather, iron, and stone in both antique and new furniture has given Little Hawkins Island a style and comfort matching the worlds’ best resorts.
Persian and Turkish hand woven rugs were hand selected by size and color with preferred field and border patterns to complement the furniture and rooms in which they adorn.
For over 2500 years, wool rugs have been used in the East by nomads and villagers for warmth and beauty.
Custom window treatments using individually selected fabrics with the appropriate fullness, lining and hem allowance were used to frame the
view from every room, bringing the natural beauty of the marshes, water,
and landscaping from the outside to the inside.
