Little Hawkins Island fronts 700 feet of the Atlantic Intercoastal Waterway, ordered created in 1919 by the US congress and maintained by the Army Corps of Engineers. This waterway measures 3000 miles running the entire length of the eastern shore from Maine to Miami, Florida. The dock will support a boat of up to 40 feet in length with a lift capacity of 20,000 pounds. Constructed using steel reinforced concrete piles, Brazilian Ipe hardwood decking, and custom exposed cypress trusses supporting the same heavy mud set Spanish tile roof as the buildings, the dock at Little Hawkins Island is simply, the best all around private dock in Georgia.
From the dock you will see amazing nature such as dolphin, otter, turtle, deer, an array of bird and fish species, and the occasional alligator or manatee. The coastal ecosystem of salt marshes, tidal creeks, rivers, sounds and the Atlantic Ocean offer a variety of fishing opportunities. Set out on an adventure using your own power or sail boat,
kayak, or personal watercraft to explore the rivers, bays, and the open ocean.
